Acrylic Abstract Paintings
These works were completed during my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art at the University of British Columbia. Most of them are reflections of the relation between perceived health on the surface and the hidden underlying havoc of disease. There is beauty in chaos and in imagining decay a way to feel and portray the invisibleness of disease until often it is to late to act. I chose abstraction to continue the discourse within the framework and notion of perfect health and illness to remove the science and specificity of body part, illness type, personality of patient or socio-political standing as we are all vulnerable. It is the vulnerability that intrigues me most-- the delicate balance for health and the implications of knowing and not knowing.
