The University of New Mexico School of Agricultural Farm Engineering (UNMsafe for short) building and site is designed to be a central node within the community. The building will act as the bridge between low income communities and natural food and education.
The site was once used as place for trains to be serviced and features a turntable. We transformed the turntable into a rain collecting amphitheater. The users sit along the randomized pattern of concrete and green seats which all descend to the central circular stage. Tucked under the stage is space for a large rain collection tank. Additionally, the main circulation paths are ramps which guide rainwater to the collection tank.
