This is a course project. Team Wireless is a CCT226 Big Data Assignment group from the University of Toronto Mississauga studying the Youth Smoking Survey from Statistics Canada and conducting data analysis from the SDA database.
Our group is focusing our study on the Youth Smoking Survey, conducted by Statistics Canada from 2010 to 2011. By analyzing the data of parents or guardians who smoke cigarettes and the age that one first tries smoking, we will derive categorical variables. Additionally, by analyzing data of an individual’s frequency to smoke and the age that one first tries smoking, we will derive numerical variables. Through these variables, we can hypothesize that parents influence their children to start smoking, however if a child is able to become more physically active, this will decrease their smoking habits.
