Interior Design Professional Practice QUT 2016

Here you can follow my progress through my Professional Practice in Interior Design unit that I am completing as part of my 4th year studies.

1. Personal Design Process / Methodology
Conceptualise and Document / Illustrate your own design process as you currently concieve it. This will serve as a personal reference point / tool to be developed and refined throughout the final year and beyond.

2. Initial Proposal (Stage One)
Identify a topic or area of study relative to interior design or which:
- You have a personal interest / passion / yearning to discover more about
- There is an acknowledged societal problem towards which design has the capacity to create improvements in and / or solutions for
Describe your chosen topic and articulate the relevance of this area of interior design in its broader social context.
- Provide a short glossary of keywords or phrases and a range of other stimuli material which assisted in the identification and articulation of your area of interest, and which provides that parameters within which you are exploring your topic. You are at liberty to construct and compose your proposal by whatever means and from whatever sources you choose.
- Postulate a guiding question for your topic of investigation. Alternatively, outline a proposition which will guide your exploration and project formulation.
Week 7 Submission
4. Framing the Project
Interim Stage: Research Findings, Deductions, Conclusions

Critically analyse, synthesise and report on your preliminary research effort by providing a range of descriptions / sketches / images / diagrams which demonstrate how your findings might help to 'frame' your project and could be translated into design 'ideas' and physical 'outcomes'. This will be composed of text, graphical illustrations, applications, testing and/or experimentation which you have undertaken as a direct consequence of your research to date, and which will inform the formulation of your project synopsis. This may be achieved by undertaking the following to collect and collate the necessary information / insights:
- a literature search and analysis of related documented information (e.g. books, prior research papers, academic journal articles, industry journals, etc.)
- a precedent search and analysis of relevant associated examples or applications.
- collection and analysis of any other primary / secondary data and/or relevant related information
- experiments or testing
- sketching, drawing and model making where appropriate

Compose a submission equivalent to a minimum of eight and a maximum of twelve, A3 size panels. This may be flexible depending on the nature of your project and the exploration undertaken.
