Daily UI Challenge #003: Landing Page

Submission for the Daily UI Challenge.

Challenge Description: Landing Page (above the fold) Hint: What's the main focus?  Is it for a book, an album, a mobile app, a product? Consider important landing page elements (call-to-actions, clarity, etc.)
I decided to use material based on another job I applied for. What's interesting is that the role is not in a design group, but rather content management (which I also know how to do pretty well!).

I took the dark blue from their current site and made it the base color for the scheme. Honestly, the current site is much more polished than my mock, and part of it is because of the overall cooler layout (a tone of blue/gray). I like it, and it's clean, but it's not very warm. When I think of a home, I think of wamer colors, like orange and brick. That's what I attempted to do with this mock.

I like this approach but I'm still not happy with the buttons. I think it makes the overall layout clunky, the more I scrutinize it. I struggled with the colors to find a good contrast. Maybe they should all be the same and then change upon cursor hover?

I also like the background because it's not too busy, but the blur concerns me. The non-blur version is below.

I set the RenterKit text purposefully to bleed into the subheader box. Not sure I like that either.

Landing pages are hard, guys.
Post-scroll, same page. Ubuntu is a nice font. I wanted to keep the site clutter-free with not a lot of detail. Then: BIG BUTTON! Opacity is my best friend.

Did I mention landing pages are hard?
Feedback appreciated!
