FADED FUTURE aims to develop a critical reflection about the creative work developed by the finalists of
the First Cycle of Communication Design Studies of FBAUP.

The pieces and projects gathered in this exhibition are understood as a sample of their production,
represented in the most varied ways: editorial, poster, typography, identity, web design, print, photography,
illustration and media. As it is impossible to neglect an exhibition with this purpose, this is connoted as
catalyzer for the young designers, who are now inserted and, at the same time, contextualized in a wider
panorama of the cultural sector both of the city and the country, becoming active elements of this sector,
searching for an individual and a collective positioning as well as Communication Designers. The curatorial
premise of the exhibition project may be defined as a reflection about the approximation/assimilation of the
learning system to a tumblr, in which the time of the conceptualization to the execution, does not allow the
critical detachment on about what is produced, making it possible to lead to a marasmus of personal
references and of self-definition. Reflexive process of a society of information and procedures (hype
society), correspondent to our current living and to what surrounds us, of the way we process information
we search for and the one which is deliberately given to us – everything is a flux of constant information,
without any kind of filter. Predicatively, in Future Shock (1970), Alvin Toffler manifests his own concerns
about the possible structural changes in the modern society, agreeable to the acceleration and
development of technology, predicting the overcharging of mankind towards this evolution, and its
consequent disorientation. From the purpose of this information management in a continuous overlap and
addiction, from the succession of different and varied imagery references, appears this cadence of 17
diary exhibitions, in which is maintained a single aspect: the use of the exhibition space as a permanency
space.
