My new colouring book Fairies in Wonderland is finally out, published by HarperCollins, Harper Books! I wanted to share a few of the drawings with you. They're mostly done with an 0 size brush onto 22 x 30" Arches, hot press, 140lb and 300lb water colour paper. To save time (since the deadlines to work on the finals for this 96 page book took about 3 months) I had to digitally assemble and edit some parts of the illustrations using the computer. The book moves from day to night and has an acitivity component where you can solve riddles to move from one journey to the next - traveling on land, air and in the sea; however, at the heart of this book, it is really a demonstration of the love that I have for drawing. I understand why colouring books nowadays have become associated with being a therapeutic acitvity. In drawing these images, the process of repeatedly drawing lines, shapes and patterns oftentimes became a very cathartic process for me as well.
To celebrate the release of this book, I am giving away 5 pairs of Fairies in Wonderland (i say "pairs" because I also have a postcard sized Fairies in Wonderland book). I'm hosting a colouring contest through Instagram so if you'd like to win a copy then check out the details on my website, www.marcoschin.com and for anyone interested you can download a high resolution page from the book here.
