This project is about people living together. In Bucharest, the collective housing is perceived as being unfriendly especially because most part of the collective housing now functioning were built in the communist era with no regard to privacy, public space, common space and building relationships. The communist goal was to create as many apartments as possible, to accomodate the population migrating from the rural area to the urban space, especially the capital.
This project is aiming to fundamentally change this perception, through it's unusual configuration. Although it is developed vertically, it's purpose is to feel like a home on the ground. We achieved that by creating green platforms at each level, gardens for every apartment and as much as possible, private access. The ground floor is conceived as a market and it has different areas destined to small bussinesses as an alternative for the dwellers to supermarkets and standardised products. From floor one up, public space mingles with private space offering private areas in which neighbours can talk and spend time together. We developed a collection of homes for people who enjoy both privacy and social interaction.
