Google ATAP’s Project Jacquard makes it possible to weave touch and gesture interactivity into any textile using standard, industrial looms. This is possible thanks to new conductive yarns integrated in to the Jacquard yarn structures. Jacquard yarns are indistinguishable from the traditional yarns that are used to produce fabrics today and everyday objects such as clothes and furniture can be transformed into interactive surfaces.

 

Believing in the potential of this technology, our team has imagined a world where the utilization of this technology has become the social norm. We created an iOS mobile app that lets users easily and freely connect their devices to Jacquard fabrics. Below is a demonstration video that shows how the application would be utilized.
