- Kindness and nastiness of Vietnamese - Tính tốt và tính xấu của người Việt Nam
This is a project that describes the kindness and nastiness of Vietnamese people. At the beginning, there are many good and bad qualities that I don't know which one to choose. So I hesitated until I did a survey the people around me, I ask both Vietnamese and foreigners what they think Vietnamese people have good and bad qualities. Finally I have something to do. Those virtues are expressed in Art Nouveau style with soft strokes that can easily go into the subconscious of the viewer. Besides that, it was combined with Neoplasticism style with 3 basic colors red, yellow, blue to highlight the problem.
Đây là một project mô tả tính tốt và tính xấu của người Việt Nam. Lúc mới bắt đầu, suy nghĩ mãi thì tính tốt và tính xấu thì nhiều lắm, biết chọn cái nào đây. Đắn đo mãi mình mới làm một bản khảo sát, đi hỏi những người xung quanh. Hỏi cả người Việt lẫn người nước ngoài về việc họ nghĩ ngưới Việt Nam có những tính tốt và tính xấu nào. Thế là cuối cùng mình cũng có cái để thể hiện. Những đức tính ấy được thể hiện theo phong cách Art Nouveau với những nét mềm mại để có thể dễ dàng đi sâu vào tiềm thức của người nhìn. Bên cạnh đó kết hợp với phong cách tân tạo hình với 3 màu cơ bản đỏ, vàng, xanh để làm bật lên vấn đề.

There was a Japanese who told me that he saw the families in Vietnam loved each other very much. That's the best he can see because in a sense the families in Japan are quite different from Vietnam. Therefore, the first kindness of Vietnamese I choose is "Family is number 1".
A family needs father, mother and children so I used the image of 3 people's hands together with a heart to mean that our whole family is 1, family is number 1. That's it.

Có một người Nhật nói với mình rằng ông ấy thấy gia đình ở Việt Nam rất yêu thương nhau. Đó là điểm tốt nhất mà ông ấy thấy vì theo nghĩa nào đó gia đình ở Nhật khá khác với Việt Nam. Vì thế mình đức tính tốt đầu tiên mình chọn đó là Gia đình là số 1. Một gia đình thì cần có cha, mẹ và con. Vì thế mình dùng hình ảnh đôi bàn tay của 3 người chụm lại với hình trái tim mang ý nghĩa cả nhà ta là 1, gia đình là số 1. Chỉ đơn giản thế thôi.
Study, study more, study forever_ Học, học nữa, học mãi
In my survey, most of the people I asked said that the good thing about Vietnamese people is they learn a lot. Although studying a lot is not the unique of Vietnam, this is a good virtue that cannot be ignored. And to describe learning, the sentence "Study, learn more, study forever" is the best. The owl is often seen as a symbol of wisdom so I stylized it at the centre - among the books. Learning is also emphasized through the red of the owl's large eyes.
Trong bảng khảo sát, đa số những người mình hỏi đều cho rằng tính tốt của người Việt Nam đó là học rất nhiều. Dù vấn đề học nhiều thì không chỉ có ở Việt Nam nhưng đây quả là một đức tính tốt không thể bỏ qua. Và để diễn tả việc học thì câu "Học, học nữa, học mãi" là tốt nhất. Con cú thường được xem là một biểu tượng của sự thông thái nên được cách điệu giữa những cuốn sách. Việc học còn được nhấn mạnh qua màu đỏ của đôi mắt rất to.

When talking about the bad qualities of Vietnamese, being late is something that no one doesn't know. And perhaps this is the most difficult disease of the Vietnamese to cure. The image of the clock symbolizes the fairness and justice of time. But the delay is man-made, so the clock is distorted and bent by human hands. Of course, tardiness is a bad virtue that makes others uncomfortable, so the watch can only cry and cry.
Khi nói về đức tính xấu của người Việt Nam, trễ giờ là điều mà không ai không biết. Và có lẽ đây là bệnh khó chữa nhất của người Việt. Hình ảnh chiếc đồng hồ tượng trưng cho sự công bằng, công lý của thời gian. Nhưng sự chậm trễ lại do chính con người tạo nên, vì thế chiếc đồng hồ bị bóp méo, bẻ cong bởi tay người. Lẽ dĩ nhiên, sự chậm trễ là đức tính xấu khiến người khác khó chịu nên chiếc đồng hồ chỉ có thể mếu và khóc.
Backbite_ Nói xấu
Backbite is a typical bad trait in Vietnamese people. It may be because Vietnamese people are afraid of displeasing each other or due to their respect, but when they are not satisfied with someone, they do not speak directly to the owner, but only to close friends or people around. Whether unintentionally or intentionally, defamation has inadvertently ingrained in Vietnamese people. This is also a bad trait that is hard to let go of Vietnamese people.
We often see aunts and uncles who gossip at the end of the street (of course boys still say bad things but the percentage is probably less than girls) so the image of girls is used to show prying eyes and slander others. The arrows point to 1 girl in the center with a different prominence from the rest. Perhaps the story begins there.

Nói xấu là một tính xấu khá điển hình ở người Việt. Có thể do người Việt sợ mất lòng nhau hoặc do tính cả nể mà khi họ không hài lòng một ai, họ không nói thẳng với chính chủ mà toàn nói với bạn thân hoặc người xung quanh. Dù vô tình hay cố ý thì nói xấu đã vô tình ăn sâu vô người Việt. Đây cũng là một tính xấu khó bỏ của ngưới Việt.
Thường thường ta hay thấy các cô, các thím là những người hay ngồi lê đôi mách ở đầu đường xó chợ (đương nhiên con trai vẫn có nói xấu nhưng tỉ lệ có lẽ ít hơn con gái) nên hình ảnh các cô gái được dùng để thể hiện sự soi mói và nói xấu người khác. Các mũi tên chỉ về 1 cô gái ở trung tâm với sự nổi bật khác các cô còn lại. Có lẽ câu chuyện bắt đầu từ đấy.
