The Insignificance of Imagination
I received an order of paper I had never used before and wanted to see what it could take because I'm usually fairly rough on surfaces. I began timidly by adding charcoal and pastel. Because the charcoal powder had made a decent pile on the floor beneath the piece. Taking the piece down, I crumpled it up and rubbed it around in the pile of charcoal which created some smokey marks. I cut open an ink pen and let it run down the page and then added a bunch of imaginary figures that respond to the shapes of the "smokey" charcoal. This is what resulted...
