For those that have never read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, it is a truly different type of book than you might think; containing layered narratives, philosophical musings, and genuine horror. What it is not, is what I thought it would be: a monster book involving mad scientists, lightning, the phrase "It's Alive!" being uttered, and pitchforked crowds. I thought that a neat way to to package the book would be to address exactly what it is not in hopes that readers might see what is actually inside.
