Tsunami App

We are proposing a "Tsunami App" that would intuitively send warning of tsunami danger when an earthquake hits. This application uses GPS to measure your current location, predicts the height of the tsunami wave, and sends warning of the danger until the tsunami hits. The main function uses the warning system operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency, using a five-tier number system, three colors, and three indicators to display tsunami warning information.

The Great East Japan Earthquake claimed the lives of 15,000 people, with over 90% caused by drowning. According to results of a tsunami study by Wearhernews, two minutes is the mean average for determining life and death at the start of evacuation. After the earthquake hit, even of the people who could evacuate only 28% remain, and many gave the reason "to get more information" as to why they evacuated. Also, the reason one in five of the victims who did not evacuate was "I thought the place I was would be safe".

From the results of the same study, when evacuating from a tsunami a variance of one minute and one second was again evident. For the announcement of tsunami danger during an emergency, it is important that evacuation be called for at the earliest moment. For this reason we are proposing the "Tsunami App", we want to work to save as many lives as possible in the event of a disaster.
