    The municipality of Mogadouro created the Rural World Interpretation Centre (Centro de Interpretação do Mundo Rural) to promote and elevate its unique regional qualities. It highlights artisanal produce such as bread, olive oil, honey, wine and mushrooms, as well as blooming traditional economic activities such as livestock and geology. Along with the physical venue there should also exist a website that celebrates and perpetuates this knowledge, and invites a wider audience to learn and visit the region’s heritage. The main challenge was to create a website and user experience that was both pedagogical and institutional. On one hand it should teach the production cycles of the gastronomical products and economic activities of the region, telling these stories in an engaging and interactive way, inviting learning through exploration. On the other hand, the website should inform and promote more formal aspects such as the Interpretation Center’s mission, associated events and contacts, in a visual language that was consistent with the pedagogical component.
