Classic of Poetry

Classic of Poetry is the oldest existing collection of Chinese poetry, comprising 305 works dating from the 11th to 7th centuries BC.

This project is to using modern art to re-express the context from those old but still beautiful poems. Visual arts and literacture are always connected and have empathy with each other. For those who live in 21st Century, it is hard for them to understand those poems written 3,000 years ago. However, if combining with the visual language, linking with the words, our imagination will be unlocked and create more interesting thing in our mind.

The fish caught in the trap
Were yellow-jaws and sand-eels.
Our lords have wine
Good and plentiful.

The fish caught in the trap
Were bream and tench.
Our lords have wine
Plentiful and Good.

The fish caught in the trap
Were mud-fish and carp.
Our lords have wine
Good and to spare.

Theings they have in plenty,
Only because their ways are blessed.
Things they have that are good,
Only because they are at peace with one another.
Things they have enough and to spare,
Only because their ways are lovely.
