Read: Seventy Strategies to Support Reading Success
This project was great as it was the first time I was designing artwork for a book cover. I was contracted by Wiley & Sons to create a book cover for authors Kimberly Kimbell-Lopez & Carrice Cummings. The book entailed strategies for helping children achieve success in reading. I was given client supplied images of the children creating letters of the title. I had freedom to create an illustration or design that would convey what the authors where teaching in the book. I ran through a gamut of ideas playing on simple illustrations, shapes, and playing with childlike colors that would capture attention. In the end, they loved the kids juxtaposed at different sizes on the actual type giving the cover a feeling of space as the words receded into the background.
