50 Years of NEH Engagement at the U of I

2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). In celebration, the Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities at the University of Illinois created a showcase of 50 years of NEH grants at Illinois and organize a series of events celebrating humanities research on campus.
I was tasked with creating branding and materials for the NEH 50 initiative on campus, including a booklet demonstrating the impact of the NEH on the university. This booklet included a list of all the awards NEH has bestowed upon the University of Illinois in the past 50 years, infographics showing “NEH@Illinois: By the Numbers,” as well as quotes gathered from faculty on campus. The booklet received immense praise from faculty on campus, the president of the university, and the chairman of the NEH.

Other designs created as a part of this initiative included event posters and an online exhibition also showcasing NEH grants on campus. These projects were created with research assistance from John Moore and copyediting assistance from Nancy Castro and MaryCate Most.
