Twist Fibre Festival - Visual Identity

The Quebec village of Saint-André-Avellin is home to the TWIST fibre festival: an annual two-day event that encompasses all that is wild and wondrous about fibre arts. Artisans and suppliers from around the world take part in this fest, where aficionados can indulge in tactile bliss and take classes or workshops to learn new skills.

We created the visual identity and have art directed the festival for the last few years with Hotdog Trio. For the 5th edition of TWIST, we explored designs that were full of surprise, celebration, colour, and that reinforce the core idea, “le festival qui détricote l’ordinaire!” or "the festival that unravels the ordinary!"
Emphasis was placed on the tactile quality of fibre textures showcasing bright, modern threads and yarns contrasted against flat planes of colour and bold, simple type.
There was much consideration that went into the festival guide, supporting typography and the wayfinding signage and exhibition signs on site.
“We want to break the myth of macramé and granny squares with original and inspiring new elements!”
