Lil' Herbie's Travel

"Lil Herbie" was the railroad graffiti moniker of a man named Herbert Meyer. Meyer worked as a switchman for a rail yard and transfer company in the St Louis area. Marking over thousands of freight train cars starting as early possibly as the 1950's until his retirement in 1980. He died in 1995, when he was in his eighties. Although it is near impossible to find an original tag of his, He is a legend in the freight train graffiti community. A number of freight train graffiti enthusiasts continue his legacy by replicating his signature palm tree and man taking a siesta.
Herbie Meyer was honored by the Missouri Pacific Railroad company by painting a car with his moniker and name as part of a safety awareness campaign.
