Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition, 2010

Each year, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) holds the Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition. Teams are formed of five graduate students, and each team must represent at least three different disciplines. For the 2010 competition, I put together a team of students from the Georgia Institute of Technology (Architecture, Urban Design, and City Planning) and Georgia State University (MBA in Real Estate). From the time that the details of the project site are released, teams have two weeks to put together a masterplan and submit it to ULI. The final product is a presentation across six boards (see below). I have divided this into three sections so that more detail can be seen, followed by close-ups of individuals facets of the presentation. Our team's submission - "The Trace" - was short-listed for the finalist round, though it was not one of the five to advance.
