Industrial design and architecture have a symbiotic relationship with one another. Exploration of materiality, methods of making, and constructing volumes are essential to both practices. For this project, I explore materiality through the design methodologies of Marc Newson and Ron Arad in order to create innovative ways to construct and occupy space. Part 1 is a singular exploration of the materials, methods and volume contruction techniques used by industrial designer Marc Newson.

Marc Newson is known for his simple yet timeless, high-quality designs. The model designs (and corresponding diagrams) below were inspired by his signature use of molded fiberglass, smooth contours and bright, opaque laminates.
