I was given a brief to redesign the current Penguin Classics collection. The first book I was given was Siddhartha, by Herman Hesse. A book which I then decided to purchase and read for a bit of extra research. I was then given The Wind-up Bird Chronicle, by Haruki Murakami. Finally, the third book I was given was The History of Silence, by Pedro Zarraluki.
I wanted my designs to be completely different from the norm, I wanted them to be bright and colourful, something that wouldn't make a younger audience scared to pick up a classic. So I went with more of a collage/illustrative style.
