Given the substantial rise of refugees and immigrants in present-day Denmark, there is an increasing need for provisions to accomodate them overnight in urban centers such as Copenhagen.
In response to this issue, it is natural to take into account the psychological circumstances which play into the minds of those who have extremely limited options for shelter in a society where many are priveleged enough to avoid such situations. Architecture which comforts and encourages its overnight residents is ideal in this case.
This project offers a refuge which contrasts the exposure of the street, taking its users up and away from the chaos and prying eyes of urbanity. The feelings of vantage and security felt while climbing a tree were pursued, inspired by the existing ivy vines on the building's site, an example of the determination of plants for growth no matter the context.
