"Vancouver is a city of the ocean and of the mountains. Our residents live here for the beauty and the adventure that both offer. With TED2016 scheduled in February it seems appropriate to turn to our mountains this year and celebrate the winter and the backcountry that our mountains offer. For TED2016 we would like to build three warming shelters that we call “ELEVATE“.

The ELEVATE huts have been designed in the spirit of high alpine shelters and offer TEDsters a warm place to retreat, gather and connect. This summer, they will be refit to withstand the great outdoors and installed in their final destination where they will serve climbers, backcountry skiers, and other outdoor enthusiasts."
