For this project I wanted to design a cover and article spread for a fictional magazine that celebrates the
creators, innovators and idea-makers who drive us forward to the future.

 

Once I came up with the magazine name, Cosmos, i then sketched possible approaches, refined my ideas and then recreated them in Illustrator.  

 

I took inspiration from many published magazines and studied these magazine to better understand the elements included on any given page.  I wanted the cover to be clear and concise while using striking imagery and layout to tell a story.  I knew I needed to spark curiosity in the potential readers while keeping the layout simple enough to absorb the most important information.

 

My aim when designing the cover and article spread was to apply a sense of unanimity to make it all seem like it was of the same publication.  Below are pictures illustrating the process and approaches I took to get to my final product:
