Part of my 'Zombiedians' (zombie comedians) series, my portrait of Ricky Gervais! Had a lot of fun painting this and it was quite an interesting piece for me. Ricky Gervais himself ended up using this picture on Facebook and Twitter for Halloween and gave me a shout-out, which was a pretty cool end result! I've recorded a commentary going over my process (below) as well as how I created the artwork and some useful tips and tricks when drawing and painting in Photoshop. This is also a submission to the #drawtoscore competition by Drawing Book Studios.

In the video tutorial below, I go through some of my thoughts and process from taking a black and white ink/pencil sketch and colouring it digitally. I talk about some Photoshop techniques I use, like basic layer properties like Multiply and Overlay, as well as how to create an interesting portrait or fan art piece and the importance of making it your own and something unique.

I also go through what I've been up to lately, things to keep in mind when posting online, and how making a series of artworks on a similar theme can draw people towards your work and gain more interest.

(Note that the way I colour and paint isn't specifically the right or wrong way to do things, it's just the way I do it, so be sure to experiment and find your own process too)
