Menelaos Lountemis was a Greek writer of the Interwar period, one of the greatest of his generation and a classic for modern Greek litterature. A recurring theme of his oeuvre is the attempt to realistically portray interbellum everyday life struggles and social inequality. His literary style is characterized by a simple and poignant way of writing. The design of the covers was approached with minimalistic and semiotic principles in mind: while there is a direct visual link between the cover art and the book's title, there is also an underlying symbolic connection with the book's deeper message. The design style is clear-cut, devoid of any unnecessary decorative elements, as an homage to Lountemis' simple style of writing, while the selected colours were inspired from each book's atmosphere and sentiment.
