From the Egg Chair to the Sydney Opera House, Denmark has consistently produced beautiful, functional design. Designmuseum Danmark contains the best collection of these works, but the museum’s visual identity is inconsistent, the wayfinding is disorganized, and the brand ignores Denmark’s rich design heritage. My goal was to design an identity worthy of a design museum.
While researching the featured designers, I noticed a common thread. Tailors, architects, and furniture makers alike -- they all sketch. These sketches range from watercolor diagrams to 3D models, each revealing something different about the designer. Sketching is a tender space between idea and object, and I developed a brand that explores this universal element of the design process.
