Spotlight and Mad Max: Fury Road are quite different films (I loved both, especially the former), so incorporating both–plus a special career achievenment award for Anne V. Coates, editor of films such as Lawrence of Arabia–into a design for Los Angeles Film Critics was a unique task. I took my initial design cue from the minimal Spotlight icon used by the Boston Globe and charged forward, pleased with the result used by LAFCA at their awards ceremony in January 2016.
