Turning a Blind Eye

This piece was inspired by the power of silencing and the assumption of women's role in society.  At a young age, women are lead to believe that they are secondary beings who are expected to take on gendered responsibilities willingly. With this archaic notion, women are often stripped of their right to form an opinion and to have a say, constantly suppressed and confined to a domestic space.
I decided to use a tunnel book form for this piece in order to portray the viewer as a voyeur, allowing them to silently experience the act of removing a woman's right to her own life.
