Identity and campaign international event 'A Wondrous Climb'

To generate income for the ongoing restoration of this important national monument, Foundation National Monument Saint John decided to set up a project within the context of Hieronymus Bosch 500 International Event 2016. Our mission was to develop a project campaign with an international appearance and wide audience reach to collect as much money as possible.

Services: Event Naming, Event Branding, Event Identity Design

Introduction
A Wondrous Climb (Een Wonderlijke Klim); within the scope of Hieronymus Bosch 500 year, you are invited to walk on the roof of the famous St. John’s Cathedral. An incredible and rare opportunity to admire the 96 stone carved sculptures on the cathedral’s high altitude flying buttresses – all of which are barely visible from the ground. The statuettes derive from the same period as the famous painter Hieronymus Bosch and show an interesting resemblance with his work. The event was initiated to generate income for the restoration of the cathedral.

Outcome
We had the honor and privilege to work on the concept of the identity and campaign for the event. The campaign image resembles a playing card, which in the vernacular is called a devil’s game. The color palette (blue and gold), is a metaphor for the divine, while the diagonal line emphasizes the flying buttresses. We used these elements as the foundation on which the identity and campaign is based.

Impact
The project exceeded all expectations regarding both visitors (more than 125.000) and income (about €800.000,-). An important contribution to the restoration/preservation of a national monument.
