Brief: tropical but not beachy; elegant and art deco-inspired.
Paige and Ben wanted a wedding suite that paid homage to the bride's hometown and wedding site: St. Augustine. I called local scientists to learn about plants indigenous to the region. Saw palmetto and the purple passionflower were the winners. Art deco was brought into the mix thanks to Neutraface and line art I created in Illustrator.
To give Paige and Ben's wedding suite a little something extra, I designed a lapel pin that held the vellum and saw palmetto pattern together at the top of the main invitation. We liked the idea of a wearable gift that was gender-neutral and festive. The pin showcases a diamond in the center, representing the engagement ring, and is celebrated by a fan of geometric feathers.
Many thanks to Dan Rader's excellent art direction.
