Steamroller Poster Printing Madness

Huge typographic linocut-poster
printed with a steamroller

In summer 2015 I designed a poster about an issue that occasionally stresses me out: NOISE!
I noticed that there are moments in which I just desire some silence. Then I need to turn off my music,
close the windows, shut down noisy electronics and recover for a while. In order to convey that
feeling I wanted to make the type look as loud as possible. The poster translates to:

“NOISE: I can't stand it any more!”

The final result is sized in „Weltformat" – a swiss poster format which is 128cm x 89,5cm.
Since I don't have access to a press that big, there had to be improvised.
My class and me organized an event, where we printed our linocuts with a steamroller.
That was one crazy experience!

Also check the Video below!

The design process was done by hand. All I used was some ink, pens, scissors, tape and a copy machine. Only the small type was set digitally.
The final result: “NOISE: I can't stand it any more!”

The sticky, heavy, black offset color does not only look great – you can also feel it.
