No Future - Saline & the Clown

"All roads were melting into the sludge of urban decay, a hell of sleaze and warfare born from idle hands of the bystanders. We waited for the call, ignorant that by the time it mattered it had become tinnitus shaking through our eyes and nerves unnoticed. The future was already dead, it just didn't stay buried."

"The cities trembled beneath the boots of soldiers, a shuddering that shook loose those that clung to the edges of society. With the military came the walls and within their shadows chaos bred. These structures of stone and jagged glass held strong against the rise of the outsiders, flaying the hands of those that tried to climb them. No safety remained for the weak, the poor and the outcasts, and so began the exodus to the deserts. Half buried by sand, the scattered metal corpses of old war machines became the backbone of the new humanity. Remade and reworked, we continued."

The Wraek

"The roar of burning fuel and twisted leather tore apart the alleyways, the rats and street spawn falling deaf in its wake. A hot slug fired from the barrel of purgatory, the Wraek was the world's attempt to set things right. All it wanted was to die swiftly and be forgotten."

“Behind the white gloved mask of knotted fingers, the rodent king had hid his pleasure for corruption. He had seen fit to sink the land beneath pools of molten plastic, creating a sea of faux rabbit ears and soulless eye. The time of kings had ruined us and made wretches of the innocent, but some still stood for the dreams of the righteous. They were a wall that held against the corrosive tide of the gibbering masses.”

General Maverix

“Strapped into a nameless future, we battered and raged in the storm. Confused, laughter came in fear’s place, our tears and biting words streaming down like feathers from the grinder. Rain washed away our foot prints, leaving nothing to guide us but the horizon. Where we had been was gone, forgotten and blinded, and all we judged was those left standing.”

“A song of crash and whirr, nothing would be the same once the steel rain came down. A dance of smoke and napalm, everything was alive for the briefest of moments, all bright and shiny in orange and yellow. A silence of dirt and ash, all for nothing and nothing for all.”

Baseball Furiosa

“The crowds are long gone these days. No one to fill the chairs covered in burnt leaves, no one to watch the rabid dogs fight and fuck in the over grown grass. No cheers, no booing, no tears of fervour. The games ceased once the end hit home and people wondered at how nothing had been done before. The end was there for sure, sitting on the benches, but everyone was looking the other way.”

The Bone Secquelor of Redmeer

"Wars were fought in the swamps near where our family live. All we see now is mud and reed and vine, all tangled in a whirling mess of life. But the Secquelor says that the dead remain, buried beneath where we walk. I wonder at how they look, whether they lay there in their uniforms reaching for the sky, but only grabbing mud and filth, their toothy smiles the last response to the death they found waiting for them. When I ask who lost and who won, my Secquelor says death makes liars of us all. I don't understand what she means, but I nod anyway. In my mind are only images of sand polished teeth chattering in the cold waters below. How long do we stay after our lives are gone? Are our bones forever or does the earth take them back?"

“Idols were made and remade on the shores of Martyrdom, a hope constructed from the ash and blood of an ideal. These fallen died at the edge of this stygian tempest only to be reborn mad and hollow from sights untold. Held high like banners for an unknowable cause, their meaning and purpose would change depending upon the side that claimed them. Symbols of hope to others, but never to themselves.”

“The Earth is ancient and will outlive us all. There will not be a tremendous crack or quiet blip when our world ends because it is not to be the end of Earth, but the end of us. Life will burn from her back and she will begin again, a new Eden, a new soup of tiny life feeding and growing from one another, much as we did. We are the anomaly, the Earth is the norm that we intruded upon for the briefest of moments and she will remember us only as fading scars.”

Dread Pirate Robyn

"Rust. Endless rust. Whatever you put into the water burns through it within weeks. It has become a wasteland of shifting corpses of fish and gulls. Things keep coming up from the depths, killed off as more bombs give out. The rust has gotten to them too, a chain reactiom that has turned the water to acid. Disposing of active bombs in the ocean was not the best display of military intelligence..."

"What we stood for died around the time that the first shots were fired. Nobody noticed, blinded as they were by the brilliant reds and yellows painting the smoke filled sky. There was no resolution that day, nor would there ever be, just the silencing of voices."
