“Inner world” Sculpture Paper box with mirrors

This project is an old one. The first one I worked on
in the eighties. It was like a gift to my friend Hendrik de Witt, but I’m not sure that he kept it.
In 2004 the Madrid Ulf Saupe asked me if I would participate in an Exhibition for sculpture measuring 25x25, so I worked on it again.  A black paper box with an interior you can only see by a small window on the top of it. If the observer looks too closely his head will block the slot so no light will enter leaving nothing to see, but if he moves to the side a bit then a little ray of light will fall inside and will be reflected by the broken mirrors  on the inside and the illusion will begin. I used photography like a document element for illustrating my work concept;Inside outside, subject and object, perception or identification, reality or illusion. The box inside would like to be a stage for infinite mental states. So I used objects (glass ball, button, snail shell, colored glass, mirror and stone) and different illumination to contrast the interior of mirrors, symbols set in a scene like in a dream. Finally in every scene a different emotion will be produced by the observer.
