In 2009 Alstom Transport challenged portuguese industrial design universities to develop what would be the portuguese high speed train interior.
  FUI project was awarded with the 1st prize, for delivering an absolute innovative approach to train interiors. Innovation doesn’t come always with high end technology. Instead, in FUI, the design strategy focused on achieving an easy and relaxed space configuration, with a spark of travel experience enhancement.
  Besides the demanding essentials of a train interior concept development, a distinct element, the raise of 12 seats in 15 cm, proved it’s competitive advantage by improving the easiness of luggage placement/removal and elderly people access.
