Quielì *trestle from Arredo S

Möbel
ARREDO S is a furniture-set designed for Fai x Tre project, an ongoing project of a platform for diy, open-source design. The set is meant to be low-cost, easy and fast to realize, with few tools.

Here is one of the products of the set (and some steps of the instructions to realize it). If you interested to the complete instructions you can contact me at a.foglino(at)libero.it .
Two trestles and a plain surface is surely the lowest cost solution to have a desk. Quieli is easy to realize and everyone can afford it.

Quielì is a foldable trestle composed by 5 principal components. The 3 legs, the rotation axis and a piece of string.
The central leg is the rotating one, the one that allows the sawhorse to be folded. The other two are glued in parallel to the rotation axis. The string passes through the central leg and stabilizes the opening.
The three legs are designed to prevent the trestle from moving and the fingers from getting pressed while handled. The round edges of each leg gives Quielì the necessary stability while allowing for the piece of string and the height of it to vary widely.
A rather simple system of holes allows the knots at the the ends of the string to disappear inside of the lateral legs.
Placing the central leg in the internal side of the table allows for the user to sit at the head without Quielì bothering their legs (something which is not possible with a normal sawhorse).
Dimensions: ideal width 40 cm, depth 60 cm, ideal height 70 cm
The ideal dimensions of the surface to place on the trestle should be 140x70 cm and at least 2 cm thick.
The two sawhorses should have a distance of at least 90 cm for the table to maintain its stability without the legs sticking out of the desk surface.
Below some example pages of the instructions to realize Quielì. Italian version.
