Madame Buffault is a fantastic opera by Boris Papandopulo that was recently found and was produced for the first time ever in 2015 as a project by three art academies of University of Zagreb.
I did the poster for it, illustration/drawing and the design - I used the Rorschach test (beloved game of the surrealists, corresponding with the surreal atmosphere of the opera) as the visual basis, though I stayed more in a control of the inkblot and intervened with the drawing in the end, forming fatal Madame. I decided to keep thypography simple, but a bit quirky with some various sized letters.
The poster was used as the official visual for the premiere, held in Croatian national theatre in Zagreb in April 2015, and for some following performances.
