In 2006, for the first time in history, the global urban population surpassed the rural one, beginning a new era for humanity. Homo urbanus project, conceived by Fermento art group, investigates this delicate relationship between individuals, urban communities and cities.
First of all, a contest was held to select artworks, photos and videos on the topic: we gathered over 150 works from Italy and abroad and then organized the exhibition of the most worthy at the Faculty of Architecture in Palermo.
The event had a wide coverage on the web and on regional TV, newspapers and art magazines, and welcomed over 1000 visitors and participants.
I designed the visual identity for the project with Antonio Cusimano (including posters, postcards, website and a digital catalogue) and contributed to the construction and staging of the exhibition.
Along with the main exhibition, we organized a series of happenings and performances to enrich the event, such as Il Grande Dono (The big gift), the Pittura collettiva (a collective painting session) and the Inquinamento letterario (a reading of short stories to promote a book-crossing project).
