Residential building in Germany

The work of the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro has inspired this residential building in Potsdam, Germany. As his sculptures enquire and discover the complexity under the smooth skin of the euclidean solids thus this project has been developed from the most common type of building in the european cities: the courtyard; which has been sculpt in order to increase the quality of internal spaces, reduce the energy use and provide outdoor areas for the inhabitants.
Addition by Subtraction, it’s the paradoxical concept that led the design process: the ‘infraconcrete’ walls help to reduce the energy use in winter as in summer without need of further insulation and become the trait of the building.

The structure is enriched by parametric designed panels that provide an unique point of view both outside and inside the building, let light pass through or as structure for the green façade on north side.
