This is the shot 47 of the shortfilm Bruce Gallagan. The whole short was filmed on greenscreen and for this shot I wanted the actors to walk on a traveling by shooting them separately and placing them into an AE 3d composition. This was one of the first sequences I finished and the first version of the shot looked like this:
I never liked it. The film tributes the science fiction of the 70s and the colors were not right for that. The cave was built compositing flat images of trees. In some shots it worked but certainly it didn't in this one. The rebuild a cave in 3d was mandatory to recreate a good perspective.
Also, Guillem Serret (https://www.behance.net/guillemserret) gave good ideas on this! he's helping me to push the art of the film, and the red planet was his best suggestion for this shot. This is the final version:
