For three weeks I teached and filmed young women journalists of Aman Radio.
Jewellery, especially rings and bracelets, are very important to the Somali women. Hands are supposed to be beautiful when they are almost all you can show of yourself.
Khadra is one of the most powerful woman I met in North Somalia. She runs sports and culture organization. With help of Khadra many young girls can play basketball and participate cultural dancing groups.
Being married defines who you are in Somali culture. Often marriages are arranged. Divorcing is easy for men but difficult to the women. Possessions and children always belong to the man after breakup.
Somaliland has it's own money but it's worth near to nothing. People don't have trust in banks or accounts. Salary comes in cash. One plastic bag full of local money is worth of 200 USD.
