Making Process

My mother was my main source of inspiration for this assignment and hence my choice of using her portrait. I wanted to create a portrait of a person who is of utmost importance to me; basically someone whom I am extremely blessed to have by my side. I have selected supermarket fliers as my choice of material for the simple fact that supermarkets constitute a large part of her life and I often associate her with them. My mother enjoys her weekly trip to the supermarket for grocery and has been doing so for as long as I can remember.

In the process of making this portrait, I tried various ways to create this portrait by using supermarket fliers. Layering method produced the best result for making this portrait as it accurately depicts the contrast. Using other methods proved to be difficult as the fliers were usually inconsistent in color.
