Where we've been and what we've seen

Laura and Sarah delved deep into the dark underbelly of London last week. We ventured into the old tramway tunnels under the Holborn area to see the Chord exhibition by Conrad Shawcross.
The tour led us through an old tram station, where Union Street signs and an old tube map are still clinging to the wall, refusing to give up their fading grandeur.
Further into the gloom, we stumbled upon a straining, creaking, work of machinery. Two hunched masses of metal stood apart from each other, facing inwards and tied together with many different coloured ropes. They were performing a slow and tortuous dance, each rotating to twist the other tighter around, dragging themselves closer together, their moaning echoing around the space.
The shadows the sculpture threw against the wall were stark and beautiful, and we highly recommend this unusual underground adventure to anyone. http://www.measure.org.uk/show11/ex_11_intro.html
