Beauty out of Ashes

// of destruction.

" The urge to destroy is also a creative urge."
                                                 Pablo Picasso
As part of my A level art assessment, i embark on a one year journey into exploring how beautiful things are conceived despite being imperfect in their forms. Through experimental methods of destuction via burning, erroding, melting, shredding, cutting, mark-making and popping existing items or materials, the original forms of the objects are being stripped off. In the process of doing so, new beauty expressed through textures is being birthed.

The arrangement of new textures further give rise to the possibility of a new form. The canvas is being used as an inspiration for the form as it is a traditional medium. I attempt to redefine the idea of a beautiful painting by creating the canvas of the painting itself using fragmented pieces of textures itself.

For the final exhibition, three pieces of canvases are being hung. One represents fire, one represents wood and the in between is in transistion.
