MÓLÓ - restaurant-pavilion

Student competition, 1st prize
HELLODESIGN.ORG Talent Award 2016 Winner

The goal was to design a small pavilion in the centre of the IV. district in Budapest. The building stands at the edge of a small grassy area. Customers can be served on both sides, seating on the lawn can be provided by custom-made cushions.
The main pavilion is built using the frame of a standard shipping container. The original metal sheeting is removed, and the steel frame slightly modified. The sides are covered with semi-transparent polycarbonate. The panels can be easily opened with the help of multiple gas springs.
A modular terrace-system can be built using smaller variations of container frames, fixed- and mobile furniture, and polycarbonate side panels.
When closed for the night, the pavilion transforms into a light-emitting box.
