How do you fight FOMO?
Airbnb's presence at Design Miami/ in 2015 centered around creating hosted moments with artists and designers while fighting the constant fear of missing out (FOMO) that can accompany any event with multiple parties and happenings surrounding it. We chose to focus on the unexpected magic of the present moment by creating a sense of discovery and hospitality through hosted moments with artists in a flexible yet unique space.

We called it: Belong. Here. Now.
We worked with Design With Co to create a space that blends the postmodern sensibilities of the Memphis style with the open and flexible nature of historic Greek agoras: a place to meet and share knowledge.
The identity was simplified into three main components, when combined, tell an abstract story of remaining calm among turmoil.
The concept was tested to see how it would flex within multiple contexts.
I made over 100 marble textures to select the right form. Each one was done by hand.
Our iterative concepting process produced a book of work about two inches thick. Above are two select spreads.
Our brand ambassadors wore extra long t-shirts with marble patterning (via Print All Over Me) along with rausch name badges and white hats with an embroidered white Bélo.

Special guests received a small packet showcasing each artist involved and what he/she/they did in the space.
One example of the event signage and an artist's installation. This was Red's (Hong Yi) installation which bound objects and their stories to large balloons that swayed in the wind.
Here's a second look at Red's installation.
This project was a huge cross-functional effort involving almost every team on Airbnb's Superbrand group (the internal creative agency) as well as partners in Camron PR, Civic, Design Miami/, Design With Co, and many others. We even 3D-printed a three foot Bélo (thanks Ben!).

I was the design lead on the project in charge of overall branding development, design, and execution. I had some great help from other graphic designers as well: Carl Bean-Larson, Stephanie Low, and Elizabeth Freeman.
