Each year, the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (UC DAAP) opens its doors to the public for a week to exhibit the work of graduating students. To establish a brand for the annual exhibit, UC DAAP calls upon renown alumni to design a logo or other visual element to be used in establishing a design system for all exhibit materials. In 2013, architect Michael Graves developed a unique painting for this purpose.
To apply this unique visual element across multiple media as a design system, the painting was evaluated and simplified into unique shapes and colors. These shapes became a background texture for all printed materials. Colors were used in wayfinding materials as a means of differentiating each school within the exhibit.

Additional materials developed included postcards, maps and wayfinding signage, t-shirts, and catalogs.
