    More than 200 °C is the product of the long-term project „Self-Moving Materials and Artifacts“ supervised by Prof. Dr. Carolin Höfler and Prof. Andreas Muxel in the area of Design theory and research and Interface Design at Köln International School of Design. More than 200 °C is a closed feedback system that combines modern technique with a poetic perspective of the physical effect: Leidenfrost. A camera tracks the natural movement of water drops the moment they touch a surface that is hotter than 200 °C. The valves drop more water on the surface when certain points are touched. The valves follow a regular 3 x 3 grid, and are connected to bottles which are filled with liquids. The tracking provides the opportunity to let the drops create an autonomous system. Thus the interaction with the valves results in more drops that are also interacting with them as well as directly with other drops. The outcome is a chaotic and self-directing system that visualizes the physical movement in an imaginative and aesthetic way. Read Less
