INKA-FONT es una tipografía inspirada en los “tocapus”, un conjunto de grafismos del imperio Inca que se replican en secuencias geométricas aplicadas en los textiles y piezas artísticas que usaban los incas y su élite. Hasta el momento se ha descubierto que eran códigos visuales que probablemente narraban la identidad de un personaje destacado, su origen, mitos y creencias.
INKA-FONT nació como un proyecto personal hace 4 años. Asi como el amaru, la serpiente mitológica prehispánica, se transformó en un torito de pucara de cerámica, como producto de la resistencia indígena ante la evangelización occidental; INKAFONT emergió del imaginario antiguo al sistema digital en forma de tipografía.
INKA-FONT es una familia conformada por bold y book. Es el producto de una investigación personal que explora la cosmovisión andina y aymara con el fin de reinvindicar el lenguaje de los tocapus, una práctica interpretativa que anhelaba convivir en armonia con la naturaleza y sus ancestros.

INKA-FONT is a typeface inspired by the “tocapus”, better know as the graphics of the Inca empire. The tocapus were sequences of geometric shapes applied in the designs of textiles and artistic pieces used by the incas and their elite. So far it has been discovered that they are visual codes that narrate the identity of the inca, provenance, myths and beliefs.
INKA-FONT was born as a personal project 4 years ago. In 2020, in the midst of a digital transformation, INKA-FONT took roots and brought to the 2.0 a two-version font family: bold and book. INKA-FONT is the product of personal research motivated by my attraction to the andean and aymara worldview. The language of the tocapus is an interpretive practice that seeks the balance of life and the preservation of their ancestors.
